team made up of Carl Adamson, Ted Heeley, Max Rees and Alan Viney played three
games at Auburn Heights.
50 people at a cost of $22 each attended the fourth annual Christmas luncheon at
the R.A.C.V. Country Club at Healesville on 15th December.
Election of the office bearers for 1987/1988 took place in March when Brian
Walsh became president-elect. The election was highlighted by the introduction of a new
position – Trips, Entertainment and Programs Officer. Carl Adamson was elected and he
carried out the job for a number of years. [Author’s note: the Club’s records on this are
not very clear, but it would appear that Carl carried out the job of initially, speakers and
outings, and latterly, outings and then Coach trips for 10 years. No wonder he was our
first Life member.]
Treasurer Harry Box presented his financial report at the annual general meeting
th
on 9 July 1987 – again the records are not complete – but it seems the Club had a credit
balance of $83. In spite of the lack of clarity in the records, one thing that is certain: at
the end of Carl’s year as President the membership was 43 - nearly double the figure
after Stan Moser’s first year at the end of 1984. The Club was continuing to grow:
statistically there were 33 members when Carl took over, 11 new members and one
resignation.

(Author’s note: Sadly, Carl died on 3 . May, 2000 on his 88 birthday. You will
read in later chapters of Carl’s contribution to the Club over a 10 year period. A very
large number of people attended his memorial service at the Lilydale Memorial Park
Chapel. There, they paid tribute to his service to the Lilydale community. He was very
much involved in Legacy for over 30 years and the RSL (he was in the RAAF during the
Second World War). He had life membership of both the Lilydale Bowling Club and the
Lilydale Garden Club and in addition, had an honorary life membership of the Lilydale
Agricultural and Horticultural Society (the Lilydale Show), with an involvement in this
area for over 40 years. He was also, of course, a life member of the Lilydale Probus
Club.)
