PRESIDENT: CARL ADAMSON 1986 - 1987

s mentioned at the end of the previous chapter, Albert Aird retired as Treasurer
and was replaced by Harry Box, a Foundation member as Albert was. Lex Lillie
A also stood down as Secretary. Bob Shellard was the foundation Secretary,

however he only occupied that position from July 1983 until he resigned in October,
when Lex took over. Lex was Secretary for three Presidents, Stan, Keith and Bob.
The new President for 1986 – 87 Carl Adamson thanked Albert and Lex for their
“sterling jobs for the past three years.”
In September 1986 arrangements were made to approach the Lilydale Shire
Council to have the Probus logo placed on the community service notice board on the
Maroondah Highway at the entrance to Lilydale, containing details of time and day for
meetings and also the venue.
Secretary Maurie Barnes volunteered to arrange the organization of the logo. With
assistance from Mr. Pat Maher of A.S.E.A., Mr. Russ Ellis, a member of the Lilydale
Bowling Club, and the supervising Engineer of the Shire, Mr. Ian Barnes, the Logo was
eventually put in place. This process took some 4 months. The board is still there. [2000]
It has had to be redecorated in recent years by Harry Brennan.
