Club of Lilydale) was incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act
1981 on 11th May 1984 and he produced to the meeting Certificate of
Incorporation No. A. 1219.
[Author’s note: very repetitive but essential for legal purposes!]
There then followed two pages of various minutes legally required to cover the
change to an incorporated body, the last minute read:
It was resolved that the Certificate of Incorporation and the Common Seal be
lodged in Safe Custody with the Association’s (i.e. the Club’s) Bankers, and
stamped with the Common Seal. [To the best of this author’s knowledge, that is
the only time the Club’s Common Seal has been used!]
In this first year the Club was still obviously ‘feeling its way’ but the President
did a difficult job extremely well and laid down a format that has stood the Club in good
stead ever since. Stan handed over to President Elect, Keith McLennan, on Thursday 12th
July 1984.
Prior to that, all the necessary reports in connection with an A.G.M. were presented.
Treasurer Albert Aird’s Treasurer’s financial statement showed the funds on hand to be
$70.68.
The President presented a very comprehensive report on the year’s events at this,
his final meeting. The highlights of Stan Moser’s year were that, firstly, he was the
President when the Club, which is now a very successful one, got ‘off the ground’.
However, Stan felt the second and most important highlight was the introduction of ladies
to our meetings, outings and functions. This second highlight has developed the Club into
a unique Probus organization, because the ladies are not members, neither do they vote or
pay subscriptions, but they do take part in most, if not all, activities of the Club.
Stan started the Club year with 23 foundation members; he inducted 11 new
members and there were 6 resignations. So he finished his year with a net gain of 5, up to
28 members.
