In 1999 the Coach hire was $170. We have used their Coaches for seventeen years.
                   Thirty-one members and ladies attended and the Newsletter said “the function was
                   thoroughly enjoyed by all.”

                           Some of the happenings mentioned were above were ‘once offs’, however over
                   the years there are about six regular “extraneous o r enduring” outings/functions which
                   have become annual events. These are: the Christmas Luncheon, Bowls Tournament;
                   Yarra Glen Race Meetings, Car Trips, Coach Trips, and City/Bush Walks. The regular
                   Trips/Outings/Functions Organizer did not organize most of these. You will read about
                   them progressively in the chapters that follow.
                          Another outing that became an annual affair was the Probus Bowls Tournament.
                   An invitation was sent to the Club by the Probus Club of Essendon to participate in a
                   Bowls Tournament at Glenferrie Hill Bowling Club on 28th March 1983. The invitation
                   was accepted and we entered a team consisting of Carl Adamson, Keith McLennan and
                   Bob Shellard and a ‘ring-in’ – a non member of Probus – Ray Hynds, the Lilydale
                   Postmaster and a prominent member of the Lilydale Bowling Club. The team lost their
                   first game by 2 shots but won the second game. A very pleasant day (and lunch) was
                   enjoyed by all. So successful was the day that an invitation was sent to all Probus Clubs
                   to send delegates to a meeting to be held after the Melbourne Probus Club’s weekly
                   meeting at the Richmond Football Club’s Social Club, to discuss arranging an annual
                   bowls tournament. The President, Vice President Keith McLennan and Bob Shellard
