It was moved, seconded and carried at the March 1992 meeting that Entrance Fees
be raised to $10 and the Annual Subscriptions be increased to $20. Geoff Paul suggested
at the June meeting that we should obtain a public address system to ensure that all
members could hear and follow proceedings from the front table. An innovation included
in the Newsletter was a segment headed “Carl’s Corner”. The March edition’s “Corne r”
read :
“The inscription on the headstone of Captain Maurice James Butler, Royal Irish
Rifles.
“Sacred to the memory of Captain Butler, accidentally shot dead by his Batman

on the 4 day April 1882. WELL DONE THOU GOOD AND FAITHFULL
SERVANT!”
Before President Les handed over to President Elect Jack Coffey at the annual general

meeting on 9 July 1992, he presented a comprehensive annual report. Treasurer Harry
Brennan’s Financial Statement showed a Credit balance of $645.42. Membership stood at
58 at the commencement of Les’s year. There were 2 new members, but 5 resignations
and 2 deaths left the membership at 53. This was the first of the five years in the Club’s
18 year history that there was a net decrease in membership, down 5 from the previous
year.
