Past President, Lex Lillie, at the same August meeting, expressed his regret that
he was not able to be present at the annual general meeting change over because of his ill
health and stay in Hospital. He congratulated President George Sank and wished him a
successful year. He also thanked Bert Walker for deputizing for him at the annual general
meeting.
At the September meeting, the President raised the matter of parking warning
slips being placed on member’s cars at the Senior Citizen’s Club car park following a
recent outing to the movies at the Waverley Theatre. Council was approached and they
apologized for the incident as a misunderstanding. A suggestion was then made for an
appropriate sign to be erected.
Also at the September meeting, in the correspondence was a letter from our Club
terminating the membership of a member, due to lack of attendance and being in arrears.
This appears to be the only occasion, in the history of the Club that such action has been
taken.
One of the highlights of the year, and the commencement of one of the Club’s
annual events, was the coach trip that Carl Adamson organized to Canberra, in
conjunction with Horizons Travel. Thirty-three members and ladies were on the coach,
which drove via Yea, Seymour, Euroa, Albury, and Gundagai to the Central Motel,
Queanbeyan. They inspected the area thoroughly (including the new Parliament House
building) and had lunch there. Similar to the car trips, this trip was of five days and four
night’s duration.
