CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
MARTIN TAYLOR 1998 - 1999
A very happy newly-inducted President Taylor
ithin a few minutes of being inducted by past president Fred Harding at the
annual general meeting at the new venue at the Lillydale Lake Community
W th
Room on Wednesday 11 March 1998, Martin Taylor relinquished the chair in
favour of Vice President Bert Milgate, who then presided over the discussion concerning
the letter from the Atheneum Theatre, which was mentioned briefly in the last chapter.
The letter from the Atheneum Theatre Management was read to the meeting.
After a long discussion and a number of explanations, a motion was put: “that the Probus
Club of Lilydale Inc. hold their future meetings at the Lillydale Lake Community Room
th
as from Thursday 9 April 1998 for an annual fee of $400.” This was moved by President
Martin Taylor and seconded by past president Bert Walker. Apart from one abstaining
vote, the motion was carried unanimously, and President Martin then took over the chair
again from Vice President Bert. What started as a busy first day for Martin continued
with a very busy twelve months as President.
The April meeting Minutes indicate that some weeks after the annual general
meeting, Martin Taylor, Bert Milgate, Fred Harding, Jack Coffey and Len Buckman
visited the Atheneum Theatre and presented Russell Johnson with a Probus Certificate of
Appreciation.
