The completion of the Contact book was achieved before the end of Clive’s year
in office. Both of these accomplishments were the result of matters that cropped up
during Clive’s year as Vice President. As soon as he took over as President, he set to
work to do something about them. The Rules re-write came about because of
correspondence from the Executive Secretary of the Probus Centre – South Pacific
requesting some action in the matter, and a letter from the Probus Association of Victoria
(P.A.V. – remember them?) advising Clubs to do nothing! The Contact book came about
because of the accident to the McLennans at Jerilderie in July 1995 (as mentioned in
Chapter 14.)
