CHAPTER THIRTEEN

                                        PRESIDENT ARTHUR GEARY: 1994-1995

                           fter Harry Brennan invested president elect Arthur Geary as the Club’s new
                           President, Arthur introduced his new team of office bearers. The main item of
                   A
                           business was a motion by the Secretary - George Sank (seconded by Bert Walker)
                   that membership fees remain at $25 and entrance fees, which include name badges, also
                   stay at $10. This was carried.
                          Past President Brennan, not long out of office, and      now the new Outings
                   Organizer, gave details of the next six month’s outings. Martin Taylor, new (to this Club)
                   in the job of obtaining speakers, gave the names he had enlisted to be our guest speakers
                   in the forthcoming six months.  This was a task that Martin carried out for the next five
                   years, with the exception of the period when he was President in 1998-1999. We had
                   numerous excellent speakers in that time.

                          The usual festivities followed for the rest of the meeting. The 11  birthday cake
                   was produced   with ceremony, cut and distributed to all present. According to the July
                   Minutes, Marj. Brennan was congratulated for her “cakemanship”   (Should that not read
                   –  “cakepersonship?”)  In addition, Marj. Harding “entertained the audience with a
                   splendid rendition of “The Stripper”, even though the accompanying music went astray
                   several times before Marj. was able to get started. She followed that with her own
                   composition, “The Lilydale Probians”, accompanied by Cath Hill.”
