The 162 general meeting of the Club on 11 December 1997 at the Atheneum
Theatre was a very special event, organized by Secretary George Sank. Thirty-nine
members, 29 ladies and 9 visitors attended. It was a re-enactment of the first
nd
(Inauguration) meeting of the Club on 2 June 1983. Standing orders were suspended
th
until our next meeting on 8 January 1998 on the motion of George Sank, seconded by
Clive Winnett. President Fred introduced Past Rotary President, Colin Dean, who
detailed Rotary’s formative work in establishing the Lilydale Probus Club. Colin then
welcomed and re-installed foundation President, Stan Moser, who introduced and re-
installed his foundation Team. The Foundation team took over the meeting and re-
enacted what went on 15 years previously. Only one of the original office bearers, Albert
Aird, who was foundation Treasurer, was not there. As has been recorded in Chapter 14,
th
he died on 8 August 1995.
Foundation President, Stan Moser, took the chair with the gavel and collar. Keith
McLennan, Foundation Vice President, supported him. Bob Shellard, who resigned on
th
13 April 1995, returned from Benalla to act as Secretary. Lex Lillie, who took over from
th
Bob Shellard when he resigned as Secretary on 6 October 1983, acted as Treasurer in
Albert Aird’s place. Bill Warren was the only remaining committee member.
